On Friday, October 18th, the professors Klocke (Chair of Manufacturing Technology), Murrenhoff (Institute of Fluid Power Drives and Systems), Poprawe (Chair of Laser Technology), Singheiser (Chair of Materials of Energy Technology) and our former rector Professor Schmachtenberg officially retired from the Zinkhütterhof in Stolberg. Many guests, including Aachen's Mayor Marcel Philipp and Rector Professor Ulrich Rüdiger, enjoyed the impressive atmosphere of the Museum of Industry during the champagne drink.

The Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Jörg Feldhusen, hosted a varied and entertaining evening. The mayor's speech was followed by a humorous performance by Aachen cabaret artist Wendelin Haverkamp and the farewell of the five guests of honour. The Frank Hirschvogel Foundation honoured Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing. Thorsten Augspurger with the Manfred Hirschvogel Prize for the best doctoral studies in the field of mechanical engineering.
